Prayers
SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the name of the Father
and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
MARY'S MAGNIFICAT
And Mary said,
"My soul proclaims your greatness, O my God,
and my spirit has rejoiced in you, my savior.
For your regard has blessed me,
poor, and a serving woman.
From this day all generations
will called me blessed,
For you who are mighty, have made me great.
Most holy be your Name.
Your mercy is on those who fear you
throughout all generations.
You have shown strength with your arm,
You have scattered the proud in their hearts' fantasy.
You have put down the mighty from their seat,
and have lifted up the powerless.
You have filled the hungry with good things
and have sent the rich away empty.
You, remembering your mercy,
have helped your people Israel -
As you promised Abraham and Sarah.
Mercy to their children, forever." Amen (Luke 46-55)
HAIL MARY
Hail Mary full of grace
the Lord is with thee;
blessed are you among women
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and
at the hour of our death. Amen.
THE GLORY BE
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Come Holy Spirit
fill the hearts of your faithful
Enkindle in us the fire of your love.
Send forth your spirit and
we shall be created
and You shall renew
the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
O God, Who didst instruct the hearts of the faithful
by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise,
and ever to rejoice in Your consolations.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
ANGEL OF GOD
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits us here.
Ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
MORNING OFFERING
O my God, I offer You this day all I shall think or do or say. Uniting
it with what was done on earth by Jesus Christ Your Son. Amen.
Prayer to St. James
"Saint James, pray for us that we may be willing to leave everything to follow Jesus as you did. Help us to become special friends of Jesus as you were. Amen"
Prayer to St. James
"Dear brother of John, who saw our Lord transfigured, after preaching in Palestine and then bringing the Good News to Spain, you became the first Apostle to die as a witness to Christ. Witness of Christ's agony in the garden, teach us to represent Christ in our life, bearing willingly our cross after him and working and praying for God's glory. Amen."
Prayer to St. James
"O Glorious Saint James, because of your fervor and generosity Jesus chose you to witness his glory on the Mount and his agony in the Garden. Obtain for us strength and consolation in the unending struggles of this life. Help us to follow Christ constantly and generously, to be victors over all our difficulties, and to receive the crown of glory in heaven. Amen."
ANIMA CHRISTI - SOUL OF CHRIST
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy sacred wounds hide me.
From the wicked enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come to thee
that with thy saints I may praise thee
forever and ever. Amen
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
We stand before you, Holy spirit, conscious of our sinfulness,
but aware that we gather in you name.
Come to us, remain with us, and enlighten our hearts.
Give us light and strength to know your will, to make it our own,
and to live it in our lives.
Guide us by your wisdom, support us by your power,
for you are God, sharing the glory of Father and Son.
You desire justice for all:
enable us to uphold the rights of others;
do not allow us to be misled by ignorance
or corrupted by fear or favor.
Unite us to yourself in the bond of love
and keep us faithful to all that is true.
As we gather in your name
may we temper justice with love,
so that all our decisions may be pleasing to you,
and earn the reward promised to good and faithful servants.
You live and reign with the Father and the Son,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
(Prayer composed by Pope John XXIII for Vatican II.
The Bishops prayed it at the beginning of every session)
Prayer for Vocations
Jesus, Good and Gentle Shepherd,
grant that the men and women from our community
may have the grace and the courage to hear and answer your call to ministry
of priesthood, diaconate, religious life and ecclesial lay ministry.
Give them the wisdom to realize that life is a gift.
Let them realize their life is part of YOUR plan.
Call forth those you have chosen to spread the gospel message,
and help them to freely respond to a life of service in the church.
May the parents and families of our parish support and encourage
our young men and women to search for, follow and answer
the call of God in their lives. AMEN
Act of Faith
O God, we firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we believe that your divine Son became man and
died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. We
believe these and all the truths that the holy Catholic Church teaches,
because you have revealed them, and you can neither deceive or be deceived. Amen
Act of Hope
O God, relying on your almighty power and your endless mercy and promises,
we hope to gain pardon for our sins, the help of your grace, and life
everlasting, through the saving power of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen
Act of Love
O God, we love you above all things, with our whole heart and soul, because
you are all-good and worthy of all love. We love our neighbor as ourselves
for the love of you. We forgive all who have injured us and ask pardon for
all whom we have injured. Amen
